Membranes stripped at 38 weeks 3 days?

Next Tues, I'll be 38 weeks 3 days pregnant & will be getting my membranes stripped to try and help my body begin labor. And yes, I have a good reason for this being done, not just because I want him out. I had it done with my first pregnancy at 40 weeks 2 days pregnant (NO dilation or effacement) and I had her the next day. With my current pregnancy at 36 weeks I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. So does anyone think that since I've already dilated and effaced a little, there is a good chance it will work again? Just looking for some encouragement or success stories to ease my mind a bit.
