Babys intestines out---heard something about dilation---what does it mean?

i heard two ladies talking about something being dilated around 6 to 7. i didn't understand that part of appointment and didn't ask. they were talking about it to each other right before one of them was about to put needle in my stomach for the amniotisis test so i was distracted. also i didn't think it was big deal or about something other than what i already been told. however, today i seen a post on a gastro group about someone mentioning there babies intestines were out and also were told dilated. so that made me ask what dilated meant. person said it had to do with how swollen the intestines are. is this true? if so is 6 to 7ish bad?
