If you wanted to use the neutron star as a time machine so you could time travel in to the future with gravitational time dilation. But I think it is important how close you are to the surface of the neutron star the closer you are the faster you speed up. And if you are orbiting to close to to the surface of the neutron star around 200 to 400 kilometers away from the surface a human can not survive this. But a human can survive being 1000 kilometers away. So does it make a difference in terms of how close you are to the surface of the neutron star to how much gravitational time dilation you will receive, will you get the same amount of gravitational time dilation being 1000 kilometers away as you would being 400 kilometers away or as close a human in a rocket ship could orbit the neutron star. To put it more simply will a rocket ship orbiting a neutron star get the same rate of gravitational time dilation for it to slow down enough to time travel into the future, orbiting 1000 kilometers away from the neutron star as well as it orbiting 400 kilometers away from the surface of the neutron star. Does matter at all the rocket ship being 400 or 1000 kilometers away will the rocket ship time travel into the future at the same rate with gravitational time dilation. Could you be orbiting 2000 kilometers away from the surface of the neutron star if possible, and still get the same rate of gravitational time dilation slowing you down. I am still learning about gravitational tides and orbits so sorry if this question does not make sense a bit. Thank you for your help with this question.

What kind of at home remedies can I do to get my dilation moving along faster?

I'm 40 weeks and my doctor is going to induce me on the 30th of June if I don't have my daughter by then. I'm only dilated to 1cm but my cervix is thin and also very soft. I would like to try something at home to get my dilation moving along ah bit faster because my mother was induced with 3 of her kids and said it made everything so much more painful and complicated, "It would have been better to go naturally." You will not be at rest with the truth I would much rather be naïve than know the truth. Like they say the truth hurts. But still we wake up everyday seeking the truth. For instance are we as humans really alive or as Edgar Allen Poe once said is “all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream.” I personally believe that the truth will come with death and not particularly from an omnipresent being. 38 weeks 4 days? is this normal?

i had my weekly check up today and i really thought i had some progress with dilation down there but still nothing! i asked the doctor if my baby is facing the right way and she gave me an ultrasound my baby's head is way down low and her legs are in my ribs, the doctor said i have a big baby and she has a big head!!!! if she is down there ready why am i not dilating? can hpv stop me from dilating? and is it normal for them to say my baby head is big? is that a sign something maybe wrong?

to your first question, even though you already talked to your doctor and she agreed I still would write the note only because where i'm from (ohio) they wont tie ur tubes unless u r 21 with 3 children or your 25... So yes I would write the note just in case!! then for you're second question, they will keep you in labor as long as your water does not break, but if your water does break they have up untill 24 hours to take the baby out so it really just depends. But yes you are at higher risk to have a c-section if you have scar tissue on you're cervix..

If you were in a rocket ship and you wanted to orbit a neutron star how far away would you have to orbit it and how fast would you have to travel. The fastest a rocket ship can travel is 27,000 miles per hour I think sorry if this is wrong and a something as soft as a marsh mellow would be accelerated to around 100,000 miles per hour to the surface, if it just appeared at near the surface of the neutron star. So travelling at 27,000 how far away from the neutron star would you have to be to safely orbit with a person on board the rocket ship. Also the rocket ship has to be inside the gravitational time dilated area radius of space time the neutron star creates. So this rocket ship can time travel into the future using gravitational time dilation. Can it be done because I asked a question before a long time ago and a few people on yahoo answers said yes it was possible for the rocket ship to orbit a typical neutron star. But I was not specific enough. Couldn't find cervix? 40 weeks and 3 days?

I wanted to check my cervix to see how it is doing in terms of dilation/effacement. When I am not pregnant, it is always very easy for me to find and identify my cervix. Yesterday, I couldn't really find anything that was recognizable as my cervix, however, I did feel a lot of squishy tissue. I'm thinking that it is either that my cervix was so high and closed that I couldn't even reach it, OR, it is so soft and low that I couldn't differentiate it from my vaginal tissues. Any thoughts?

Why is it that those who complain are free to do so, yet those of us who listen to them cannot?

We all know how "depressed" and suicidal" all these many people with "horrible," "God-awful," "worse-than-everyone-else's" are. But what of those of us that are optimistic, complain about life maybe once per year, hear them out, and try to fix all these problems. the younger kids like they are babies and doing everything for them. My oldest is 11 and my twins are 3.. The problem I have is the twins are the whiniest by far of all my kids. theres things u can do, like taking primrose oil, coash tea, and many more, i would talk to your doctor and if he oks it, id do it, but i wouldnt induce..AT ALL, its best for the baby, my second labour and delivery was A BREEEZE!..well compaired to my first, with my first i was in labour for 2 days.. i would dialate to 7 and back to 5 then to 8 and back to 7..i had forceps and vacume extraction and had a horrible episotomy, with my second i was 6 cm dialed when they checked me when i was 2 days past my due date, and i didnt feel a thing!!,didnt even know i was in labour! once they broke my water it was only mabey 25 minutes and i got to hold my daughter..the path has already been paved wheather you had a c section or not, stick to YOUR birth plan unless all else fails

I'm curious as to whether or not most women would break up with and/or leave a guy who refused to sleep with them. I am one of those odd-ball guys who had a physically abusive father, was moved on three different occasions, and didn't get to be a traditional aged college student and be exposed to the opposite sex like alot of men are. am seeing bright halos around light sources at night and blurryness during the day . This happened only last night and I went to optometrists today, he dilated and said everythig looked healthy, I played basketball outside today like an idiot and noticed my right eye seemed blurry. My dogs nose isn't wet... Help!?

Okay now my dog is 12 years old and was diagnosed with liver problems just a couple of weeks ago. The vet also said he was dehydrated at the time. He is only allowed to eat spelll food from the vet, all other food will kill him. He has to take 3 tablets a day which makes him drink and wee a lot. He does have diarrhea as well. This morning he kept me up from 5am-7am, I let him out for poos and wees. I then realised his bowl of water was empty and I wasn't sure how long it was like that so I filled it up and he drunk quiet a lot. I also feed him some of his special food. I then woke up at about 10:30am and he had a dry nose. I let him outside and he came back with a wet nose. But it was then dry again so I have made him drink a lot today and it goes wet for about 10-15 minutes but then goes dry again. I am only 16 and my parents are away on holiday so I can't take him to the vet. I'm pretty worried. Can someone please tell me why his nose is not wet? Thanks.

So they're trying to ripen my cervix to put me into labour, as my body just fights against anything happening. Thus the 2nd law of thermodynamics is actually false if you consider the "Universe" since the rate of expansion of our Universe is greater than the rate of entropy increase since we see more vacuum by seeing galaxies and planetoids move farther apart from each other without increasing in size in return. Therefore with each real process the total entropy of the Universe decreases and approaches zero, thus second law of thermodynamics is wrong and should be rephrased, an experiment to prove this would be an empty container in space behind Earth in relation to the Sun, since the sun will increase the temperature of the container, the experiment would consist of several empty containers floating in vacuum of space and fairly distant from each other with a few molecules causing a spontaneous increase in temperature within the container after the lowest temperature plateau is reached due to cooling in space, however time dilation should be taken into account. First of all I am 18. Ok so lately I can not seem to stop my mind from pondering on thoughts. I definitely have anxiety and maybe a minor depression. I have been looking up a alot of mental disorders and I became so worried that I would get schizophrenia, I took a self test exam for it but got a 0 so even though I was positive I didn't have it, I still couldn't stop worrying about it. I was so scared I would start hearing voices and seeing hallucinations and start getting symptoms. But eventually that went away and as it soon as it did I started worrying over other things. Like recently I've been thinking about is it right to eat meat, being that it was an animal? I mean I love steak, I have all my life and never would have questioned myself about that. Now I am so worried that I won't ever be able to eat it again. Even though I keep telling myself that its fine, its part of the food chain all this stuff, I can't seem to get it off my mind. But what of those of us that are optimistic, complain about life maybe once per year, hear them out, and try to fix all these problems. Bipolar is just a label of the symptoms. Not everyone will have all the same symptoms and considering your dad has it.. it seems you probably have something of that sort too. Don't look at it with a label.. it's a chemical imbalance in the brain causing these symptoms, it doesn't need a label unless you need to label it. This happened to me, it looked like a thin piece of dried out skin, I wish I could be more of a help but I can't remember how far along I was when this happened. I think I was pretty far up there so it could be part of the mucus plug. Not much longer, I was exactly 39 weeks when I had my 2nd and induced at 40 with my first. I had natural labour with my 2nd and it was so easy and amazing. Stay away from the gas if possible :) good luck

Clubbing solo in Vancouver?

Hey everyone, I'm a 19 year old guy here as of May, (sorry for the pour-outs here haha) and probably because I used to be a pretty quiet dude, I've been really interested in going out to bars and clubs lately. I've been to a few places with friends whenever they've wanted to go but lots of my friends or acquantances are still 18. And the ones that are old enough don't always have the same desire to go out. So, does anyone have any experience in clubbing solo, is it in anyway acceptable? What are some suggestions? I just want to make the most out of the summer and have some good times before the fall starts where I will really have to put a ton of focus on a hectic college schedule. I'm about average as far as looks and personallity go so should I give it a try next time I can't find anyone to come out with me?

The ability to believe in god astonishes me..longish?

throughout most of my life i had been an agnostic never really putting much faith into anything but have always been comforted by the idea that hey theres got to be something out there but how can any of these books and faiths contain the complete will of god, and even if one could do that ive always felt that over the years many religions original goals and meanings have become perverted. up until recently i was completely content with this belief, but very recently something has made me start to struggle with the realization that i might actually be an atheist. i don't know specifically what caused this revelation, but i know that the more i dwell on it the more viable it becomes. ive actually almost completely accepted the lack of a god or a hereafter completely, and coming to this belief ive found that its much harder to handle than i would have thought before it was an entertainable idea in my head. its just like the more i think about it the more i seem to come to the conclusion that maybe we werent an accident but maybe we were and maybe there is no all knowing, all seeing, all powerful creator that drafted us in his image and maybe when we die thats just it, we die. and the more i think about mortality the more securely the belief becomes implanted in my brain, nothing we do when were alive matters since there is no afterlife in which we can be punished, spiritually were on our own and the idea of a higher power is only to keep us performing socially acceptable actions. and also the more i ponder this the more ludicrous the idea of believing in a god, who has never been proven or even hinted at by the millions of years this earth has been around. with this question i mean to convey no disrespect but only too get an unemotional, level headed answer from someone who does have the capability to believe.

Assuming you mean that you rotate so fast that the the velocity of your outer cells is close to the speed of light, the cells of your skin will age less than the cells in your spine. Note however that centrifugal effects will have ripped you apart well before you have reached that rotation speed, so basically nothing will effect you: you will be dead.

I had three D&C's as well and then miscarried naturally. I was surprised that the doctor didn't want to make sure my uterus was empty, but I was never required to go back after he told me I was miscarrying. I would just wait and see if you get a normal period next month. If you do, then all is fine. If not, then your body still thinks it's pregnant and you will need to see a doctor.

On the third day of my period, I had a sudden attack of really strong pelvic pain and cramping and bright red vaginal discharge with lots of little dark clumps (normally it's really dark red). The cramps felt like 9cm dilation during labor! My family took me to the emergency room and after a pelvic exam and ultrasound, the doc was left scratching his head - he said I didn't have any cysts, and the blood pregnancy test came up negative. I refuse to believe it was nothing - it was horrible and very real! Could it have been a ruptured ovarian cyst? Anyone else have an experience like this?

38 weeks and I'm not dilating, is this normal? Does this cause me to be at higher risk for a Cesarean?

According to my doctor and the hospital nurses my cervix is "slammed shut" and " it will take an explosion to get it loose!" This is my first pregnancy, I am very large, carrying a boy, and I just want this big boy to come out! It's very hard for me to walk or stand because majority of my weight has only been gained in my stomach, leaving my little ankles to small and weak to carry all of my upper body. I drank 6 oz of Castor oil Yesterday around 3pm and at around 9pm nothing was going on but i noticed that i Hadn't felt the baby move since i drank the castor oil, so i got worried and went to the hospital to make sure he was okay.( I found out that castor oil can cause fetal distress ) On my way to the hospital i started having some painful contractions every few minutes, and they monitored me and the baby, the baby was fine and moving, and i was having contractions every 2-3 minutes right at the 6 line. I have a complete idiot as a doctor ( I'm not the only one who believes this, seems as if the whole city feels the same way ) and when the hospital called him, he said to send me home because i still am not dilated. So I've been home still having contractions, honestly not as often or painful as last night. But I've read that women's water can break and they can be in labor without dilation. It just seems to me that there could be something that my doctor can do. * And * It's a high possibility that I am farther along than believed by my doctor because I had my menstrual cycle 3 times in one month and that was the month i became pregnant. I was told by the hospital i went to that i had a miscarriage when my 3rd cycle came in that month. I didn't save my paper work or remember the date of when this happened, but i know it was in the end of september. So about 3 weeks later when i found out i was pregnant the doctor just picked Sep. 29th as my conception date and we went from there, saying i was 6weeks. But before he chose my conception date he felt me and said i felt 10 weeks pregnant. So I believe i am farther, yet only by a week or so, its still farther. I'm so over being miserably pregnant because i am never comfortable and i am alone. It's seems so much harder being all alone in a pregnancy, especially my first. How to check your own cervix for dilation?

Ok so I've heard a lot of women do this. I have tried but I don't know where my cervix is. I don't feel any opening or hole. I am 1 cm dilated. Is your cervix far back inside? So I have been thinking for awhile now about this thought that I had a couple of months ago. If I am right with this, then relatively travelling back into time is possible. And like any other relativity theories, this one also requires the speed of light travel. So, consider two spacecraft that are CAPABLE of travelling at the speed of light and they both set out to a journey to Proxima Centauri (3 light years - i am rounding it). and let's say that they both start at the same time today May 25, 2011 and spaceship one is travelling at 'c' but spaceship 2 is travelling only at 'c/2'. spaceship 1 is going to arrive at Centauri exactly 3 years from now so its time is going to read May 25 2014. But the second spaceship which will arrive 6 years later. However consider this: If the spaceship 2 will increase its speed up to the speed of light once spaceship 1 arrived at proxima centauri, then spaceship two will arrive at proxima centauri in 1.5 years. So, by this time a total of 4.5 years have been passed. So the date on spaceship 2 will read November 25 2015 (remember 4.5 years). but more than 1.5 years will have been passed on the spaceship 1 that is stationary at centauri (time dilation). So therefore by the time spaceship 2 will have arrived at Centauri, an observer on spaceship 1 will perceive spaceship 2 as from the past. Thus due to time dilation, an observer on spaceship 1 will perceive spaceship 2 from the past. Even though the time difference will be minute, it can still be considered because time on spaceship 2 is much slower than on spaceship 1, which is stationary after 3 years of travel. So relatively speaking travelling back into time is possible. Am I right? Please tell me. Even though I did not use any specific numbers, this is just a thought that I have.

What would help you is a correct diagnosis from a psychiatrist who is the specialist and possibly medication or just a referral to therapy. I am going on 40+ weeks of my pregnancy and on friday the 13 of may my Dr told me i was 1.5 centimeters dilated and I saw him again the following monday and not much had changed but went to 2 centimeters, since monday I've been in so much pain, with no regular contractions, and he wants to schedule a induction on saturday, which is a bit scary. I would like her to come soon witout having to do that ... so does anyone have any SAFE suggestions as how to speed up this dilation process?? Thank you!!

Confusion after getting a shot to stop contractions?

Hi there again. I hope that someone can be of some help. I am 35 weeks pregnant and yesterday I started having contractions. They were between 5-7 minutes at first for about two hours so we went to the hospital at the direction of our doctor. After they put me on the monitors they were between 2-3 minutes apart for about 7 more hours... so 9 hours total of constant contractions. The pain was not terrible, but they certainly weren't comfortable, and I had pain in my back too. They felt like menstrual pains and there was a lot of pressure and tightness. Because the contractions weren't causing me to dilate much (only 1 cm), they went ahead and gave me a shot and some pills to stop the contractions. The doctor said that they were just braxton hicks because there was no progression with the dilation, but everything I read describing braxton hicks says that there is no regularity and they should go away on their own. They are also described as not being painful, and mine definitely were increasing in intensity and frequency over time. I was having way more than four in an hour. I'm just confused, because if what I was going through was simply braxton hicks, and we spent all that time in the hospital, it gives me a lot of anxiety about real labor and whether or not I'm going to have a clue when I'm actually in it. I'm really worried about the risk of going to the hospital again when we aren't actually in labor. Is there anything I can do if this happens again? Drinking water at home and changing positions, etc didn't help to stop the contractions. If we have it with that intensity again, can we just ask for some pitocin and for the chance to just go through with labor? Has anyone else experienced this? I am a first time mom, so I'm not asking these things to sound selfish about the labor process, because I am very grateful that my son is okay and not having to spend time in the NICU. But I have a lot of anxiety now about labor and could really use some advice from people who are more experienced than me. I really appreciate your help :)

At the 20 week scan we were told out baby has renal pelvic dilation should we be worried?

After our scan and renal pelvic dilation being diagnosed I checked out the web and they say it is linked to downs syndrome. All other checks were normal and the earlier blood test showed up as low risk. Should we be worried?

I see where you are coming from. I suspect you have got this idea from relative velocities e.g adding to a result one. However, for starters light doesn't work like that. If your in a car travelling at 50m/s and fire a bullet with velocity 1000m/s in front of you the bullet has velocity 1050m/s. Light is different. If you Are travelling at 0.5c and shine a torch in front of you then it light acted like sound you would expect it to travel at 1.5c. The speed of light is a universal constant though and can not be exceeded. The light would travel at 1.0c. Time will be dilated equally for both planets equally, provided they are travelling at the same speed. However, if you travel at 0.75c then your time dilation will be 1.51 (from special relativity equation. If both planets are stationary then your time will be 1.51 times slower than theirs. If however one plant is moving at 10000m/s through space then the time dilation for this planet will be 1.000000001. This is obviously negligible, since dilation only occurs exponentially close (above 0.75c) the speed of light. Hopefully although in a round about way, that does answer you question and allows you to understand why the answer is so.

Can you help me with this neutron star gravity question?

If you were in a rocket ship and you wanted to orbit a neutron star how far away would you have to orbit it and how fast would you have to travel. The fastest a rocket ship can travel is 27,000 miles per hour I think sorry if this is wrong and a something as soft as a marsh mellow would be accelerated to around 100,000 miles per hour to the surface, if it just appeared at near the surface of the neutron star. So travelling at 27,000 how far away from the neutron star would you have to be to safely orbit with a person on board the rocket ship. Also the rocket ship has to be inside the gravitational time dilated area radius of space time the neutron star creates. So this rocket ship can time travel into the future using gravitational time dilation. Can it be done because I asked a question before a long time ago and a few people on yahoo answers said yes it was possible for the rocket ship to orbit a typical neutron star. But I was not specific enough. I forgot to say the rocket ship had to be inside the curvature of space the neutron star creates, in order for the rocket ship to time travel into the future with gravitational time dilation. So is it possible for a rocket ship to do this because the fastest rocket ship can only go 27,000 miles per hour and I do not know how far the radius of the curvature of space time is from the surface of a typical sized neutron star to the end point where the curvature of space time ends where there is no gravitational time dilation. Could you also tell me the distance in miles the curvature of space time is in, in miles from a typical neutron star's surface to the end point radius where space time is no longer curved and time does not slow down. What would the doctors do?

I havehave been having contractions for days, I told this to my doc on friday and he checked me, and would really let me know much else, except that he" could get a finger in" and that that's normal for a woman going on her 5th child, and" to make sure I get right to the hospital if I have contractions" so I called the nurse a few hours later and asked what my dilation was recorded at, the nurse said 4 cm, 60% effaced. So... my question is now, A. Why didn't they get the to go into the hospital, isn't 4cm risky? And B. I have been having contractions all day today, but not but every 10 minutes, he said to head in at every 5. So. What would they do if let's say im a 5cm dilation with further effacement. What do you think they would do since im only 35 weeks... im guessing they wouldn't let me go home with a cervix that open right? So what should I expect.

Why check for dilation at 36 weeks?

I am almost 36 weeks, going tot he Dr today. She told me last time she would do a vaginal exam at this appointment to check for dilation and effacement. My question is, everything I read says that you can be dilated and effaced for weeks before delivery or for no time at all, so whats the point in even checking now?

so im looking to rent a car. but im only 19. i only want to rent until i can afford to buy. because it would seem like a good way to get by until then. but the problem i am having is that i all the places i have called say i have to be atleast 25 to rent a car. How can you make a shy guy talk to you more and possibly like you without coming off as too excited?

There's this kid I've known for a while. He's extremely shy and quiet and has a few friends that he's comfortable with but he still doesn't talk to anyone very often. I think I kinda like him and I want to talk to him and make him feel comfortable around me but I don't know how to start without coming off as strange or too excited. I've talked to him a couple of times casually but he didn't seem to respond much. I really want him to talk to me more and feel comfortable so I can maybe get somewhere with him, can someone help?
